It's been a 150 years since the Peshtigo Fire devastated the northeastern part of Wisconsin burning 1.2 million acres. Countless counties including Kewaunee and Door were also affected. Join us as author and local historian, Virginia Feld Johnson, discusses her latest book, "When the Night Rained Fire" on Friday, October 8th at 1 pm in City Council Chambers. It was believed Kewaunee County would never rise from the ashes. But, as it was, many came to feel Kewaunee County's greatest tragedy was a blessing in disguise. When the fields were cleared, the ashes became fertilizer, and new homes were built better than the old. Good qualities of fellow citizens came forward, and life changed.
