Genealogy & History

The Algoma Public Library knows that local and personal history are very important. This is why we have curated a collection that includes indexes of birth, death, and marriage notices appearing in local papers. We are happy to help you find information.

Record Requests

Copies of obituaries, birth, marriage records, and other records are available through the Algoma Public Library.
  • $3.00 per record
  • Requires a self-addressed stamped envelope large enough to accommodate the requested copies.
  • Maximum of 10 records can be requested at a time.
  • More records can be requested after each set of 10 is completed and returned to you.

Microfilmed reels of the Algoma newspapers (Ahnapee Record, Algoma Record, and Algoma Record Herald) from 1873-1982 have been digitized! The digitized newspapers are now accessible online. Go to the Newspaper Archives to find them.
