The Algoma Public Library knows that local and personal history are very important. This is why we have curated a collection that includes indexes of birth, death, and marriage notices appearing in local papers. We are happy to help you find information.

Record Requests

If you are unable to locate a specific record in the newspaper archives, copies of obituaries, birth and marriage records, and other local records may be available through the Algoma Public Library.
  • $3.00 per record.
  • Maximum of 10 specific records per request.
  • Requests are fulfilled as staff time allows.
  • This service is for locating specific records, not conducting extensive genealogical or family-history research.
  • For digital requests, email us at [email protected].
  • Additional requests may be submitted after the previous request has been completed.

Newspaper Archives

Microfilmed reels of the Algoma newspapers (Ahnapee Record, Algoma Record, and Algoma Record Herald) from 1873-1982 have been digitized! The digitized newspapers are now accessible online. Go to the Newspaper Archives to find them.
