 A family reading together in a blanket fort - how fun! Join us as we do our 2nd annual Family Winter Reading Challenge from February 1st to February 28th. Thursday, February 24th "" Available starting Thursday, February 24th at 10 AM, Teens can stop by the Algoma Public Library to pick up a kit with the supplies to make their very own infinity cube (a popular fidget toy). Limited supplies available.
Tuesday, February 22nd "" It's not every day that a date that reads 2/22/2022 falls on a TUESDAY. To celebrate the day, the Algoma Public Library will have snacks, activities, and a photo-op area set up all day. Stop by the Algoma Public Library to make fun memories on this historic day.
Tuesday, February 22nd at 3:30 PM "" Every Month on the Second and Fourth Tuesday, Tweens and Teens are invited to come to the Algoma Public Library from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm for snack (provided by the Library) and a quiet place to work on homework.
A librarian will also be available to help (to the best of her ability) if there are any homework questions.
 Join us on Tuesday, February 15th at 1 pm as we discuss Libertie by Kaitlyn Greenidge. Books can be put on hold on infosoup or by stopping in the library to place a hold with one of our friendly librarians. This book has large print, regular print and ebook editions available.
Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone!! If you are feeling inspired to read something romantic this week, we would love to help make some suggestions. We used three different "Best Romance Novels" lists to create an ultimate Romantic Reads List. Then our staff made some suggestions of their own.

 Stop by the library on Monday, February 14th to pick up a kit designed for Adults, inspired by literary books and all non-alcoholic drinks! Kit includes 2-3 recipes and some ingredients. Participant is responsible for purchasing the rest of the ingredients.
February 14th at 4:00 PM "" In celebration of the most romantic day of the year, tune in on Monday, February 14th at 4:00 PM for a pre-recorded video celebrating some of the all-time best Romance Novels. The video will be available for viewing on our Facebook page, our website, and our YouTube channel.
 Kids - Try some fun STEAM activities/experiments with candy hearts in this kit. Available on Thursday, February 10th.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:00 PM "" Meeting on the second Tuesday of every month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, join Braelyn for Adult Creative Writing. We will have writing prompts and activities for those looking for inspiration. The first hour will be used for brainstorming and writing, the time left will be for sharing our pieces (for those that would like to). All materials will be provided by the Library (paper, pens, pencils). Sharing of new or old pieces is encouraged, but not required.

 Adults are you looking for a fun craft to make and wear? Stop by the library on Monday, February 7th and pick up this fun and easy Silk Scarves Kit that includes a silk scarf AND uses the dye from tissue paper. You will ring in the Chinese New Year in Style! Kits are limited and located at the circulation desk.
*Program made possible by the East Asia in Wisconsin Library Program award. The intent of this award is to give public libraries throughout Wisconsin the opportunity to enrich their collections with new titles. Award funding to be used to purchase books and materials or to support programming that will enable Wisconsin residents to deepen their understanding of East Asia, which encompasses China, Japan, the Koreas, Mongolia, Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan.  We want to create another Community Art Project! Stop in to pick up your puzzle piece to make into your own piece of art. Paint (acrylic, oil, watercolor...), collage, use mixed media, 2D, 3D, or whatever you'd like on your piece. When we have them all collected, we will mount them and display our Community Art in the library for all to see.
Check out our Community Art Project from last year which is hanging in our program room for inspiration. Kits available to pick up via Sign Up beginning January 3rd so we can keep track of who has a piece. Pieces due back by February 7.  Kids - Celebrate the start of the Winter Olympics with this kit. Available Friday, February 4th.
