A family reading together in a blanket fort - how fun!
Join us as we do our 2nd annual Family Winter Reading Challenge from February 1st to February 28th. Track your reading on our Beanstack app during the month of February and be entered to win a prize! Can we beat last year's goal of 10,500 minutes or 177 hours? Open to families and individuals of all ages. 

*For those that struggle with technology we do have a paper tracking log available too.

Memory Screening

Get your FREE brain health check-upon Wednesday, February 16th between 12:30-3:30 pm at the Algoma Public Library! A memory screen is a wellness tool used to help identify possible changes in memory and cognition. It is not diagnostic, but can help direct people to address any concerns. Please call to register. 

More locations are available. Please Call ADRC of the Lakeshore at 1-877-416-7083 to register or for more information.

Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone!! If you are feeling inspired to read something romantic this week, we would love to help make some suggestions. We used three different "Best Romance Novels" lists to create an ultimate Romantic Reads List. Then our staff made some suggestions of their own.

*You may be with individuals you do NOT know or they may be younger than you. If you wish to be in your own group you must have at least 5-8 people sign up with you.

Memory Cafe

Join us on Wednesday, February 9th at 10 am for Memory Café. Memory Cafés welcome those experiencing early stage Dementia, mild memory loss or cognitive impairment, and family and friends of those affected. It’s a great opportunity for lively discussions, information gathering, refreshments, camaraderie, and lots of creative fun! 

​We have a Dementia Specialist professional on hand to answer questions and an enormous wealth of experience among participants to be shared. We’d be delighted if you would join us! The first hour will be used for brainstorming and writing, the time left will be for sharing our pieces (for those that would like to). ​Adults are you looking for a fun craft to make and wear? Stop by the library on Monday, February 7th and pick up this fun and easy Silk Scarves Kit that includes a silk scarf AND uses the dye from tissue paper. You will ring in the Chinese New Year in Style! Kits are limited and located at the circulation desk.

*Program made possible by the East Asia in Wisconsin Library Program award. The intent of this award is to give public libraries throughout Wisconsin the opportunity to enrich their collections with new titles. Award funding to be used to purchase books and materials or to support programming that will enable Wisconsin residents to deepen their understanding of East Asia, which encompasses China, Japan, the Koreas, Mongolia, Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Community Art Project

We want to create another Community Art Project!  Stop in to pick up your puzzle piece to make into your own piece of art. Paint (acrylic, oil, watercolor...), collage, use mixed media, 2D, 3D, or whatever you'd like on your piece. When we have them all collected, we will mount them and display our Community Art in the library for all to see.

Check out our Community Art Project from last year which is hanging in our program room for inspiration. 

Kits available to pick up via Sign Up beginning January 3rd so we can keep track of who has a piece.

Join us as we play Bingo to bring in the Chinese New Year! We will have fun Chinese New Year Prizes for our Winners. *Program made possible by the East Asia in Wisconsin Library Program award.
