Come learn about what's currently happening in the night sky on Tuesday, April 25th at 5:30 pm. Our presenter, Bob of the Neville Public Library Museum Astronomical Society, will also touch on the solar eclipse and telescope viewing in general. There will be time for a Q & A. If the weather is nice, we will be going outside to view the sky through telescopes. This program will be held in the City Council Chambers, please enter through the Library.

Stress is a part of all our lives. The severity of that stress can vary. However, when stress hits, it's nice to have ways to cope with it. Join us Monday, April 17th at 12 PM for our "Stress Happens" program. We will discuss different signs your body gives you when you are stressed, different coping mechanisms you can utilize when dealing with that stress, and additional resources that might be useful. This program is geared towards teens and older. Stop by to pick up a bookmark with activities to complete beginning of February. Upon completion you will be entered to win a prize! Activities include reading, activities, Book Bingo, completion of a kit and attending a program of your choice. This challenge is geared for Teens & Adults. Challenge runs February 1st to March 31st.
Available starting on Thursday, March 23rd at 10 AMIf you and your family are trying to watch your spending, but don't want to sacrifice fun, we have a kit for you. This kit will include instructions for activities you can do inside and outside, at least one craft, and a couple recipes revolving around common household ingredients that you can make as a family. Kits will be available on March 23rd starting at 10 AM in the entryway of the Algoma Public Library.
Kits will be available on a "First Come, First Served" basis. This kit is geared towards families. Supplies will be limited. Libraries, for decades, have been a staple in each community for housing books, movies, magazines, and local history. Those items are still a large portion of what libraries, like ours, want to offer our patrons.
However, one of the unspoken talents of public libraries is the ability to grow and adapt as the needs of our community change. In addition to the "traditional" items you can browse and borrow, we made a video highlighting some of the more recent pieces of our collection that are utilized by our families, neighbors, children, and friends that help our community stay connected and entertained. We offer public computers for your work and printing needs, public iPads filled with educational games, preloaded tablets patrons can take home, mobile Wi-Fi hotspots that bring free internet to your home for a week, DVDs, Blu-ray, and music CDs, videogames for multiple consoles, Microfilm readers that help with your genealogy/research needs, and our public printer when you don't have access at home. All these things and more can be found at your local Algoma Public Library. We'd love to see you here. Come to the Algoma Public Library on Monday, March 6th, 2023 at 3 PM to find out. We'll also be going over different tips and tricks that we use for our own TikTok account that can help you get started.
Monday, February 27th at 3 PMIt's a day to celebrate Pokémon! Pokémon has been around since 1996 and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Stop by the library on Monday, February 27th starting at 3 PM to take part in fun Pokémon games and activities, try your luck at trivia, and maybe win a Pokémon themed prize!
Patrons that play the newest games (Scarlet and/or Violet) or the Pokémon Go app are encouraged to bring their games. The Algoma Public Library is not responsible for the individual games and game systems of patrons within the library. Hearing Screening for adults provided by HearingLife out of Sturgeon Bay. Monday, February 13th starting at 10 AMIt's the day before Valentine's Day, but you don't have to make all the plans on your own. Stop by the library starting Monday, February 13th at 10 AM to pick up our Valentine's Day in a Bag kit. Inside each kit will be various challenges, activities, and supplies to help make this special day memorable.
Supplies are limited. Kits are geared towards teen and adult couples. Kits will be given out on a first come, first served. Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 at 3 PMPatrons of all ages are welcome to stop by the library on Tuesday, February 7th starting at 3 PM to assemble a card for a friend. Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 at 3:30 PMIn partnership with Jamie Schmiling from Roots Yoga and Healing, the Algoma Public Library would like to offer patrons, in their teens and older, our free Yoga with Roots program on January 17th at 3:30 PM at the Roots Yoga and Healing studio (located at 417 Steele Street, Algoma).
To participate in this program, sign up at the Algoma Public Library or give us a call at 920-487-2295. Waivers are required to participate in this program and will need to be returned prior to, or on the day of, said program. If a participant arrives without their waiver in hand or on file, they will not be able to participate in this program. Slots will be limited. Patrons are encouraged to sign-up early to ensure they are able to reserve a spot. There will be a small waitlist for potential last minute cancelations.
