Come make a pumpkin out of books with us on Friday, October 25th from 1-3 pm! This program is geared for adults and teens. Supplies are provided. However, if you wish to bring your own book from home to turn into a pumpkin you can.
On the third Wednesday of every month from 3 PM to 5 PM, the Algoma Public Library invites our patrons to step into Virtual Reality. Our two headsets, made possible by the Friends of the Library, will be set up in our meeting room space for patrons to enjoy.
Sign-ups are required as each patron will be given a 15 minute turn. (Amount of time for each patron is subject to change depending on attendance.) Stop by the library from October 14-19 (or while supplies last) to grab a Science in a Bag STEM Kit, courtesy of the Wisconsin Science Festival! 🧪🔬
These kits are packed with fun science activities for ages K-12, featuring awesome science and research happening right here in Wisconsin. 🌎✨ Plus, visit the Science in a Bag portal for extra instructions and bonus activities to keep the learning going! 🎉 Don't miss out—supplies are limited! Come make an entirely you piece of art using our supplies. Patrons are allowed to drop in anytime between 3:30 - 6 pm on Wednesday, October 9th to create a masterpiece. Your masterpiece can even be used for an entry into our Inktober contest. Open to teens (14+) and adults.
Join us on Monday, October 7th at 4:30 pm as we watch the lovable, easily frightened Great Dane, Scooby-Doo accompany the Mystery, Inc. crime-solving sleuths--Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), Fred (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Velma (Linda Cardellini)--as they investigate a series of paranormal incidents at Spooky Island, a spring-break hot spot owned by Emile Mondavarious (Rowan Atkinson). Before the supernatural secrets scare away the college crowd, the gang must crack the case, save themselves and, possibly, the world! Zoinks! Starting at 6 PM on Wednesday, July 17th, we will be hosting a Murder Mystery. Sign-ups are required to ensure proper running of the program. Tuesday, July 9th at 1 PMCan you afford college? Learn ways to pay for college and how to read your credit report. Renee Koenig from UW-Madison Extension will teach this session with games and helpful tools on July 9th at 1 PM.
Friday, July 5th at 1 PMPipe cleaners are a versatile and underused crafting supply that sometimes get lost in art drawers.
Patrons are welcome to stop by the library between 1 PM and 2:30 PM to try different pipe cleaner crafts. Instructions will be available for multiple projects. All ages welcome. Come to the library and make your very own garden stone on Thursday, June 27th from 1 - 2:30 pm. It will be a fun DIY. You might get a little messy, so dress appropriately! Bring your own decorations (gem stones, colored rocks, sea shells, beach glass, pottery pieces) library has limited supplies. Call or stop in the library today to sign up!
