On the third Wednesday of every month from 3 PM to 5 PM, the Algoma Public Library invites our patrons to step into Virtual Reality. Our two headsets, made possible by the Friends of the Library, will be set up in our meeting room space for patrons to enjoy.
Sign-ups are required as each patron will be given a 15 minute turn. (Amount of time for each patron is subject to change depending on attendance.)

We are kicking off this year's S.T.E.A.M. program with a bird feeder building challenge and the whole family is invited! Stop by the library between 3 and 6 on Thursday, 9/12 for tips on identifying birds and to learn about different styles of feeders. Then build up to three bird feeders to take home and hang in your yard.

*Players will take turns to give all participants a chance to play* In celebration of Global Shorebird Day, we're excited to offer a special Shorebird Awareness Kit. This kit includes educational materials to help you learn more about the importance of shorebirds and their habitats. Additionally, we've included a fun and meaningful craft activity where you can create bird-protecting window decals to help prevent bird collisions with windows.
The Shorebird Awareness Kit is perfect for all ages and provides a hands-on way to engage with conservation efforts. Pick up your kit on Friday, September 6th, and join us in protecting our feathered friends! *While supplies last Donations accepted August 1st to 23rd. Children need the proper tools to achieve success in school. Often these tools are as simple as paper, pencils, or crayons. The Algoma Public Library is accepting school supply donations on behalf of the children and families in our community that are in need. Donated supplies can be dropped off at the Algoma Public Library. Examples of Supplies Needed: Scissors, Loose leaf paper, Single subject notebooks, Elmer’s Glue, Pens, Pencils, Color pencils, Glue Sticks, Crayons, Markers, Folders, small storage bins, Kleenex, hand sanitizer and Pink Erasers. These items will be available for our local teachers to pick up during the annual “Teacher Meet and Greet”. This “Meet and Greet” gives teachers the opportunity to come in and connect with the Library, set up teacher cards and to talk to library staff about any material needs or questions they may have.

Visit our Story Walk on the Boardwalk! The story, "Keep Up Duck," by Ivan & Rachel Bates". It will be up from August 5 - 19 (weather dependent) at Algoma's Crescent Beach Boardwalk.

Sean Smith Reading Can Take You On Many Adventures! Backpack Bounties Kits Available! Starting Wednesday, June 19th, we are thrilled to introduce weekly Backpack Bounties kits, a key part of local Scout, Sean Smith's Eagle Scout project. Nearly a year ago, Sean reached out to our library with a desire to make a meaningful contribution. He envisioned creating activity kits for families to pick up and work on together. So, take a break from technology and explore the joys of reading and discovery together!
These kits will be available every Wednesday through July 31st beginning at 10:30am. Kits will be available one per family (or child, depending on kit) on a first-come first served-basis, while supplies last. Join us in this exciting journey and discover the adventures that await! Story Time Summer session begins June 4 at 10:30 am. Join us Tuesday mornings for stories, songs, movement, crafts and lots of fun. Birth through age 4, older siblings are always welcome.
