Join us for a FREE Webinar on Attracting Hummingbirds with Melinda Myers on Wednesday, June 4th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Invite these beautiful pollinators to your landscape by growing a few of their favorite flowers. Add one or more feeders and don’t forget the water. Gardening expert and author Melinda Myers will cover a variety of hummingbird-favorite shrubs and flowers to include in your gardens and containers. Plus, we’ll discuss tips for filling, cleaning, and placing feeders in the landscape to support and keep them safe. Register for this free June webinar.
The Algoma Public Library has received a $10,000 Libraries Transforming Communities grant from the American Library Association to improve accessibility in our building, services, and programs. We’re inviting community members to join us on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 1pm-2pm, and/or Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 5:30pm-6:30pm, for a conversation to share ideas, needs, and experiences related to accessibility—especially for those with disabilities, mobility challenges, sensory sensitivities, or age-related needs.
Your voice matters, and your input will help guide how these grant funds are used to create a more inclusive and welcoming space for all. Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome! *This event is offered by the Algoma Public Library as part of Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in collaboration with the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL). On the third Wednesday of every month from 3 PM to 5 PM, the Algoma Public Library invites our patrons to step into Virtual Reality. Our two headsets, made possible by the Friends of the Library, will be set up in our meeting room space for patrons to enjoy. This month's date is Monday, May 21st, 2025 from 3 to 5 pm.
