 Donations accepted August 1st to 23rd. Children need the proper tools to achieve success in school. Often these tools are as simple as paper, pencils, or crayons. The Algoma Public Library is accepting school supply donations on behalf of the children and families in our community that are in need. Donated supplies can be dropped off at the Algoma Public Library. Examples of Supplies Needed: Scissors, Loose leaf paper, Single subject notebooks, Elmer’s Glue, Pens, Pencils, Color pencils, Glue Sticks, Crayons, Markers, Folders, small storage bins, Kleenex, hand sanitizer and Pink Erasers. These items will be available for our local teachers to pick up during the annual “Teacher Meet and Greet”. This “Meet and Greet” gives teachers the opportunity to come in and connect with the Library, set up teacher cards and to talk to library staff about any material needs or questions they may have.

Tuesday, August 13th at 4:45 PM Bring blankets, pillows, and snacks to our Movie Night showing of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empires on Tuesday, August 13th from 4:45 PM to 7 PM. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empires is a PG-13 movie with a runtime of 125 minutes.
Wednesday, August 7th at 12 PM Join us at the Algoma Public Library lawn on Wednesday, August 7th from 12 PM to 1 PM for an hour of Slime making for all.
Rain date: Monday, August 12th from 12 to 1. Friday, July 5th at 1 PM Pipe cleaners are a versatile and underused crafting supply that sometimes get lost in art drawers.
Patrons are welcome to stop by the library between 1 PM and 2:30 PM to try different pipe cleaner crafts. Instructions will be available for multiple projects. All ages welcome.  Come to the library and make your very own garden stone on Thursday, June 27th from 1 - 2:30 pm. It will be a fun DIY. You might get a little messy, so dress appropriately! Bring your own decorations (gem stones, colored rocks, sea shells, beach glass, pottery pieces) library has limited supplies. Call or stop in the library today to sign up!

In partnership with the Friends of Crescent Beach, we will be encouraging patrons to get out and have fun while protecting our great lakes with Beach Clean Bingo. Patrons can pick up a bingo sheet and a paper bag at the circulation desk. As patrons stay at the beach, they can fill out their Bingo card by finding various pieces of trash. Trash can be returned to the library in the paper bag with their completed Bingo card to be entered to win a prize curtesy of the Friends of Crescent Beach.

Playing word games like Scrabble help improve vocabulary, help with concentration and allows players to have fun at the same time. Scrabble was invented by Alfred Mosher Butts in 1938.
