Live Algoma Needs Your Help

Algoma is a small rural community working towards improving the health and wellness of our community through access to high quality nutrition, exercise, financial, recreation, and mental health services.  With a growing poverty rate, Live Algoma is committed to developing equal opportunities for all of our citizens through each of our five focal points Healthy Children, Healthy Individuals, Healthy Community, Healthy Employers, while ultimately contributing back to the Healthy Commons.

We are seeking a community that has leveraged local assets in terms of nutritional improvement while also providing avenues for holistic health and wellness.

To do this they need your help. There is a survey that can be taken by anyone who lives or works in Algoma. This short survey will allow the Live Algoma Team to focus in on what our community truly needs. You can pick up a paper copy of the survey at the library or you can take it online by CLICKING HERE.

Library Director: Rita Schiesser Retired

Rita Schiesser

Did you know that Rita retired from the Algoma Public Library at the end of 2015? She spend 28 years helping to make the library such a wonderful place. The Kewaunee County Star-News put together a nice article and we would like to share it with you. Please click on the photo of Rita to get the full story.

Note: Amanda previously worked at the Suring Area Public Library in Suring, WI and grew up in Oconto Falls. The article has that information wrong.

NEW FEATURE in our Children's Department!

Thanks to the Algoma Library Friends and to a donor for their generous donations, the library has purchased an IPad Krayon Kiosk, 3 chairs and 2 IPads for children to use. The IPads are loaded with games, books and educational apps for children elementary age and younger! If you have any suggestions for any educational apps or games to add please let us know!
