Tuesday, December 12th at 3 PMLibrary patrons of all ages are welcome to join us at the Algoma Public Library on Tuesday, December 12th between 3 and 4 PM to create your own painted ornaments.
All supplies will be provided by the Library. Friday, December 8th at 3 PMJoin us at the Algoma Public Library between 3 PM and 4:30 PM on Friday, December 8th to make your own miniature books! We will have different options for book covers and supplies.
This program is open to all ages. Young children are encouraged to be accompanied by older family members. Love Mazes? Love Candy Canes? With a partner, create a candy cane maze that will challenge other teams!
30 minutes will be given to design a maze with candy canes. Teams will then exchange mazes to move marbles through. Can your team create a challenging maze? Planning ahead will help with the time factor! Between homework, extracurriculars, jobs, family plans, and keeping up with friends, there are lots of things to fill your calendars as a teenager. The Algoma Public Library would like to help you add some more fun amongst the plans. Teens are welcome to come to the Library starting at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, November 21st to unwind with friends in our after hours Teen Game Night. Please note that because this is an after hours program, teens must arrive between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM since the doors will be locked after our scheduled open hours. Teens that need to leave before the end of the program won't be able to come back in after 7 PM. Staff will be available until 8 PM. Please make sure rides know that the library will close and staff will be leaving at 8 PM. November 1st to November 15thOh-Oh! It's November, and Turkeys are looking to go undercover so they don't become the main dish at Thanksgiving! You can help by disguising a turkey in any way you'd like! Pick up a paper turkey at the library desk, and dress it up as anything you'd like. Sports player? Hula dancer? Be as creative as you'd like. Please return your undercover turkey to the library by Nov. 15 so it can proudly display its disguise!

The Inktober Art Contest is back and asking for local artists of all ages to get their art on. Registrations and Submissions will be accepted starting October 2nd! Patrons can select an age group (Children's, Teens, Adults) that they would like to submit to at the time of registration. Rules and guidelines can be picked up at the Circulation Desk. Inktober Art Contest Submissions will be accepted from the time of registration till October 20th. The voting period will be the last full week of October (23rd to 28th). Donations accepted August 1st to 22nd. Children need the proper tools to achieve success in school. Often these tools are as simple as paper, pencils or crayons. The Algoma Public Library is accepting school supply donations on behalf of the children and families in our community that are in need. Donated supplies can be dropped off at the Algoma Public Library.
Examples of Supplies Needed: Scissors, Loose leaf paper, Single subject notebooks, Elmer’s Glue, Pens, Pencils, Color pencils, Glue Sticks, Crayons, Markers, Folders, and Pink Erasers. These items will be available for our local teachers to pick up during the annual "Teacher Meet and Greet". This "Meet and Greet" gives teachers the opportunity to come in and connect with the Library, set up teacher cards and to talk to library staff about any material needs or questions they may have.
